Dear Parents and Students,
Classes start Monday! Please make sure to review the materials for your child’s class - you can find them in the “Files” link of your parent portal. In particular, be sure to review the studio policies (updated and condensed for this year), the class information, and the calendar. We also ask everyone to fill out an enrollment form - it has some information that the online registration system doesn’t automatically collect, such as physician contact info, consent to post pictures of your child, and volunteering options. You can print the form and fill it out, or you can fill it out online HERE.
Please remember to send your child with the following items:
- ballet shoes, plus shoes for any additional classes they are taking
- water bottle
- mask - we have a limited mask frames available for students who would like them. They can be very helpful for breathing in a mask
- yoga mat if you have one (we have some at the studio that are cleaned after each use)
Students in Ballet 3-5 should arrive a few minutes early on Monday so they can choose a locker if they haven’t already. Students in these levels will be expected to keep their belongings in their lockers rather than on the floor, benches, etc. This will aid in keeping our dressing room clean and sanitary for everyone.
If you would like to observe your child’s class via Zoom, you can email me for a link and password, or ask me on the first day of your child’s class and I’ll have the meeting ID and passcode for your child’s class printed on slips of paper.
If you still haven’t gotten ballet clothes yet, you can go to Empire Dance (5004 E Sprague Ave in Spokane) or Bou Cou Dancewear (2112 N Government Way in Coeur d’Alene) and tell them you’re from the Academy of Dance and which level your child is in. They have all our dress code information. If you would rather purchase clothing online, email me for a link to the dress code list for your child’s class.
Our protocol is that if your child is sick, they should STAY HOME. Even if they don’t have covid, coming to class sick does no good to them and can potentially spread illness to others. Sick children who feel well enough to dance are welcome to attend class via Zoom if they have an open space where they can safely dance.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Our office assistants this again this year are Cecilia (Mondays and Tuesdays) and Anastacia (Wednesdays and Thursdays), and I am always reachable at this email.
Let’s make this a great year!
