keeping our dancers safe

The Academy of Dance is committed to protecting the health and safety of all our dancers and faculty. Here is what we are doing to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • limiting all class sizes to ensure social distancing

  • limiting the number of people entering our building

  • asking all students and faculty to self-screen before coming to the building

  • providing free masks for all personnel

  • maintaining social distance between dancers

  • requiring personal mats for floor work

  • disinfecting frequently-touched surfaces throughout the day

  • providing hand sanitizer, tissues, and trash receptacles in all studios and encouraging frequent hand cleansing

  • offering Zoom as an option for all classes

In spite of all our precautions, we recognize that we cannot eliminate the risk of the accidental spread of COVID-19. All persons who choose to come to the studio acknowledge this risk and agree not to hold the Academy of Dance or any of its staff liable in the event of exposure to, or contraction of, COVID-19.

Contingency plans

In the event that a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, we will take the following precautions:

  • The individual who tests positive will quarantine for at least 5 days, or until they test negative and their symptoms abate.

  • We will contact everyone who was exposed to the person and inform them that they may have been exposed to COVID-19. They should contact their healthcare provider for advice.

In the event that a student or staff member is exposed to COVID-19, we will take the following precautions;

  • If the individual has had a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the last 90 days, they do not need to quarantine unless they experience symptoms

Anyone who is exposed to COVID-19 or who tests positive should continue to wear a mask when they return to class until day 10 after exposure/onset of symptoms/positive test.

If a teacher needs to quarantine, we will arrange a substitute for their classes. If we are not able to arrange a substitute, we will either hold the class on Zoom or cancel and arrange for students to take make-up classes if possible.
