Summer Programs 2010

Check back after the first of the year for information regarding faculty and guest master teachers.

Beginner Intensive - Ages 7 - 11

Monday, July 5 - Thursday, July 15

14 hours per week • Monday - Thursday for two weeks

Beginner/Advanced Beginner Level

This workshop will be an intensive designed to move the dancer ahead both technically and artistically. There will be daily classes (Monday through Thursday) in Conditioning, Technique, and Pointe or Pre-pointe. After a short break, the dancers will begin learning and rehearsing variations with age and level appropriate choreography.

Tuition for the entire workshop $240

$13 per single class

A deposit of $120 is required to hold the dancer’s place in the workshop. It is due by May 31. This deposit is not refundable. Balance of $120 must be paid by June 25th.

The workshop is subject to cancellation if a minimum enrollment is not met. If the workshop is cancelled, all deposits will be returned immediately.

An informal studio performance for the friends and families of the dancers will be given Thursday, July 15th at 7:00 p.m. In order to participate in the performance, dancers must attend the entire program.

IMPORTANT NOTE
On Thursday, July 15 the program will move from morning to the afternoon to accommodate the performance time. Classes will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Advanced Beginner/Low Intermediate Intensive

Monday, July 12 - Thursday, July 22

18 hours per week Monday - Thursday for two weeks

Advanced Beginner/Low Intermediate Level

This workshop will be an intensive designed to move the dancer ahead both technically and artistically. There will be daily classes (Monday through Thursday) in Pilates, Ballet Technique, and Pointe and Modern. After a short break, the dancers will begin learning and rehearsing two short ballets. One piece will be classical in style while the second will be contemporary in nature. These pieces will contain vocabulary that is intended to accelerate the dancers to a higher level of technique and confidence.

Tuition for the entire workshop $264

Classes only (no rehearsal or performance) $90 per week

$13 per single class

A deposit of $100 is required to hold the dancer’s place in the workshop. This deposit is not refundable. Balance of tuition must be paid by June 26th.

The workshop is subject to cancellation if a minimum enrollment is not met. If the workshop is cancelled, all deposits will be returned immediately.

High Intermediate/Advanced Intensive

22.5 hours per week Monday - Friday for three weeks

This workshop will be an intensive designed to move the dancer ahead both technically and artistically. There will be daily classes (Monday through Friday) in Pilates, Ballet Technique, and Pointe and Modern. After a short break, the dancers will begin learning and rehearsing two short ballets. One piece will be classical in style while the second will be contemporary in nature. These pieces will contain vocabulary that is intended to accelerate the dancers to a higher level of technique and confidence. They will also learn classical solo variations.

Tuition for the entire workshop $437

Classes only (no rehearsal or performance) $103 per week Final week $83

$13 per single class

A deposit of $200 is required to hold the dancer’s place in the workshop. Deposit is due by June 1st. This deposit is not refundable. Balance of tuition must be paid by July 12th.

The workshop is subject to cancellation if a minimum enrollment is not met. If the workshop is cancelled, all deposits will be returned immediately.

An informal studio performance for the friends and families of the dancers will be given Thursday, August at 7:00 p.m. In order to participate in the performance, dancers must attend the entire program.

On Thursday, August 5, the intensive classes will be held beginning at 3:00 in order to accommodate the evening performance time. The audience will be seated at 6:45.

Auditions for SYB I at 12:30 (ages 13 and up) and SYB II at 1:30 (ages 10 and up) will be held at the Academy of Dance on Saturday, September 11th. Dancers who are accepted into SYB I & II will be cast in "The Dancing Princesses" and need not reaudition on 9/18

Auditions for "The Dancing Princesses" will be held at the Academy of Dance on Saturday, September 18th. There are roles for girls and boys ages 5 and up. At least one year of ballet training is necessary.
